Eric Quezada Presente!

Long-time social justice activist, Eric Quezada, passed away on August 24, 2011 at age 45 after a 7 year battle with cancer. Eric is survived by his wife Lorena Melgarejo and 3 year old daughter Ixchel Quezada.
Eric’s innovative and creative work has allowed La Raza Centro Legal to continue its ongoing work towards immigrant rights. As Executive Director of Dolores Street Community Services, Eric brought together 13 San Francisco immigrants rights agencies to form the San Francisco Immigrant Legal and Education Network. It is through the network that La Raza Centro Legal and other immigrant rights agencies have grown their immigration legal services and outreach. The collaborative work of these agencies allowed for the rapid response legal services and social services at the time of severe ICE raids, keeping many families together rather than separated due to detention and deportation. La Raza continues the needed work of ensuring the rights of low-wage and monolingual Spanish speaking immigrants in honor of Eric Quezada.
